It's just an ok place

The cabin is cute and we had a great time. There are a few things I would have liked better though. First, we couldn't get in our cabin. We were sent the wrong keycode. The temp was dropping fast and it took about 25 minutes for the company to get us in remotely. We went shopping for some of our meals and supplies but there is no pantry for storage. There was 1 tiny cupboard under the counter but it had droppings all inside. The bedposts and floorboards are covered in dust. We wanted an "unplugged" vacation so we wanted to use our phones very little, but there are no clocks or alarm clocks to wake us up for early adventures. There is a landline phone in the downstairs bedroom that rang a couple times in the middle of the night. Other than the above mentioned we thought it was a charming cabin. We weren't here most of the time as we were out doing the tourist thing. I don't think we'll rent this cabin out again now that we've seen some other local cabins but for what we paid we were good with our stay.

Our Autumn getaway ...

The photo of the front of this cabin from the road makes this place appear small. Don't let it fool you. The front door enters into the main bedroom, which is actually on the top floor, along with a full bath and the soaking whirlpool tub (which we didn't even use since there is a spectacular hot tub on the back deck!) There is also a closet and other storage areas in this bedroom to store all of your clothes if you like. Walk down the beautiful wooden staircase into the main living area which has only one couch, a flat screen television and a gas fireplace. This was one of our only disappointments. Despite reading and following the instructions, we were unable to get the fireplace to operate at all. I sent an email requesting this issue be addressed (along with a kitchen light problem -- which was fixed by a maintenance man) but the fireplace request went unanswered. Also in the living area is a nice pool table which we made use of every day during our visit. The kitchen was adequate but dated. The skillets need replaced and the stove could use an upgrade since the burners are all tilted and make cooking less than normal. But we were able to make it all work. There is also a small kitchen table in the room to eat your meal inside. There is also a door that leads outside to the back deck. While there is not any mountain view or creek view, the privacy offered here was top notch. Not another cabin in sight. We spent a large amount of time using the hot tub and rocking chairs with our morning coffee or adult beverages each day and night. The rocking chairs could use a little tlc maintenance as they tend to come apart at the joints, but again, we made due. There were plenty of towels provided in both the upstairs and the second full bathroom on the main level. A second full bedroom is also on the lower level. Both beds were nice .. maybe not the best mattresses, but definitely provided excellent night's sleep. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will consider it again when we return to the area in the future. The location was convenient to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and the National Park. The access driveway was easily navigated in our rental car, no 4x4 needed at this time of year.
