A Pandemic Break

It was wonderful. The house was nice and spacious. Everyone could be in their own space or together as there pleased and that was great during the time of COVID19.

Would Not Rent Again!

This cabin is very roomy and accommodated our party of 9. It had a very large kitchen, a hot tub and beautiful views. Each bedroom had its own bath plus a full bath in the theatre room. Which was appreciated. However, the theatre room smelled like a dead animal. The duct work apparently has condensation dripping into the ceiling causing a black mold problem and a horrible odor. I realize the cabin was in the woods and centipedes can be hard to kill, but I wonder if any attempt was made to resolve this issue? Maybe running a dehumidifier might help? Also, the theatre room was missing a seat and two kitchen chairs were broken. In general it was time to start replacing some furniture, bedding and so on Furnishings are starting to show some wear. The dvd player for the living room TV was broke and there seemed to be some issues with the modem because we would have to mess with it to get it to work, resetting it and unplugging it and plugging back in. We had a lovely stay a few years back at Hawk's Ridge which was smaller but in better condition. We were expecting more. I would not rent this cabin and would think twice before using Elks Spring Resort again also. It is a shame. With some TLC this could be a fantastic rental.

Beautiful Views

Great views and amenities. However there was a very strong mold smell coming from the theater room. Such that we didn't go in there and kept the door closed during our stay.

Beautiful Views To Wake Up To!

Our Girl Scout troop of 14 went to Gatlinburg for the weekend. The girls loved the cabin and it was a perfect size for us (although three girls had to stay in each king bed). I think this house really only accommodates 12 people, not 14. The view from the cabin was beautiful, but, the driveway up to the cabin was very steep and a scary drive. The beds were not very comfortable, mine had an egg crate on it, but, expected more considering the daily price of this rental. The rental company was great - making sure we had everything we needed. House was also very clean. Kitchen didn’t provide usual essentials other cabins have, but, plenty of staples - plates, cups, silverware, etc. Overall we had a great time!

5th Stay With Elk Springs

This was our 5th stay with Elk Springs and it was another great experience. We absolutely love staying with these guys. We LOVE their cabins and stayed in Knockin On Heavens Door. The view was excellent, the beds were super comfortable. The theater room is neat, but we chose other activities than watching movies during our vacation. This cabin is right in the middle of the Arts and Crafts loop, and only 5-10 minutes away from the grocery store and downtown Gatlinburg. 20-30 minutes out from Pigeon Forge and Sevierville.

Word of caution, the driveway was very steep but easily managed with our little FWD Scion. Very rainy or winter conditions would have been tough tho. The tires did slip a bit during our autumn stay with so many leaves fallen, but a quick sweep and no problem again.

A few "gripes", but these were all minor issues and did not detract at all from enjoying our stay. The oven door was very difficult to open (but cooked fine). There were very few cooking pots/pans and most of those were in really rough shape. Could use a few extra pillow cases and blankets, esp in the fall/winter. Broom and dust pan are provided, but a rake or push broom is really needed for the driveway - at least in fall. We had to sweep off the driveway once because so many leaves had fallen during our autumn stay and tires kept slipping on the steep climb.

Tho in Elk Springs defense, they will bring extra pots/pans/pillows/blankets, etc. if you ask them - their customer service is excellent.

Also the lady bugs are a real issue in Gatlinburg lol. Hundreds died on window sills and the porch during our stay, but none got in the cabin.

Again, those were minor inconveniences, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There's other cabins I'd revisit before this one (LOVED Stairway To Heaven), but I would not hesitate to stay in this one again, and definitely plan to continue staying with Elk Springs Resort!
